These are the musings of an average guy trying to follow Jesus into His extraordinary plan. I’m not a particularly impressive saint and not into reading piles of dusty books. I'm just a modern guy who wants to love others. A guy who occasionally stumbles, sometimes grumbles, and periodically and hilariously fumbles his way through this life of faith. I might share some insights, but I’m more likely to share my missteps and lessons learned, because if God can lovingly sanctify an oddball like me, there must be hope for us all.
To prove my sincerity (and great humility), I’d list my many flaws, but that sounds embarrassing. I’d have to include my questionable sense of humor, the uncomfortable silence after I crack jokes in church, my tendency to melt metaphors like a three dollar bill in church, and my love for blaring 80s metal. But in the spirit of keeping it real, I’ll simply admit I'm a work in progress — but in the hands of the greatest Artist. And that means I’m in good company, because last I checked, we all are.
At the end of the day, my hope for you is simple: to love God, love others. My hope for this blog is simple too -- to give my mom and wife something to read to their friends. If either of them are going to brag, they might as well have some fresh material. If I write something epically lame, mom can always blame my dad's genes and my wife can pretend someone hacked into this web site. So if you’re up for some hardly filtered reflections, occasional rants, and some mildly awkward attempts at transparency, stick around.
Who knows? We might just grow together.
